I once worried that mixed classes could be a bad thing, but Fletching totally changed my mind. When done so well this approach allows children to thrive and achieve highly (as is the way here at Fletching). I am a primary school teacher (early years specialist) and looked at several schools (and in this area a fair few are mixed due to the smaller surrounding villages), I fell in love with Fletching and it changed my mind completely about mixing age groups.
One of the many wonderful things, about Fletching is it’s caring and creative ethos; thus allowing all children (even in the older year groups,) the essential time to continue to learn through play and creative methods and not just bum on seats “robot” methods. I have found this has helped far more children to thrive and want to progress within their own goals than in some other same form year groups.
My little girl has hugely benefited from seeing the older children work and being exposed to some higher level thinking/ideas. If anything she strives to learn more and is always excited to see what she’ll do next, and wants to do it all now! Her excitement for leaning and her attitude to school has been amazing… couldn’t have asked for more in her first year!
Her little sister starts in 2020 and is desperate to become part of the Fletching family.
